My Background
Prior to starting at Tsuchida and Partners, I worked in large intellectual property firms in Japan as a patent attorney.  As an associate and partner, I have experience in international and domestic patent drafting, prosecution in chemical and biological case and in international and domestic trademark prosecution.  Further, I have overcome many rejections at the appeal stage in various cases.  Additionally, I have counseled a number of clients such as those in the food industry and the life sciences, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries on matters concerning freedom to practice opinions, non-infringement opinions, and patentability opinions.

Prior to becoming a patent attorney, I worked in a domestic institute in Japan and a heavy industry company as a biochemical engineer.  My main field of study was the saccharification of biomass and I applied for a patent on the pretreatment of biomass as an inventor.  Before becoming a biochemical engineer, I was a teacher of biology and chemistry at a prep school for the medical school of a Japanese university.

My Background
I joined Tsuchida and Partners as a partner in 2017.   Before joining Tsuchida and Partners, I worked in a domestic intellectual property firm after obtaining a Bachelor of Science. I have experienced a wide range of technology, including electronics, mechanics, software and business methods as a partner. In addition to my patent prosecution and draft experience, I have extensive experience in design and trademark prosecution and resolving copyright issues.   Besides drafting patent specifications and progressing applications through to grant, I also advise clients on freedom to practice opinion and non-infringement opinion, especially concerning the import of goods to Japan or exporting to china.
